[News] Billy Ray Cyrus Defends Miley's 'Wrecking Ball' Clip

Billy Ray Cyrus has leapt to daughter Miley Cyrus’ defence after she faced criticism over the video for her new single, Wrecking Ball.
The Terry Richardson-directed promo sees the 20-year old star riding a demolition ball butt-naked, with Miley also suggestively licking a sledge hammer in the clip.
Speaking of the raunchy video, the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker told Entertainment Tonight: “I’m a song man. A musician singer-songwriter who loves all styles of music.
“But again… I come from the old school where it starts with an artist and a song… colliding if you will… in a moment where the song, the singer, the producer, the band and the listener become one.”
He added: “It wouldn’t have mattered if Miley would have worn jeans and a flannel shirt… a Tux… or a nun’s habit. The song’s a smash… and her performance vocally on the tune reflects her roots and sheer God-given talent.”
Miley herself also defended the video during an interview with US radio station Z100, with the We cCn’t Stop singer insisting that it is about “much more” than nudity.
The Wrecking Ball video has since gone on to break records on VEVO after it’s premiere on Monday (September 9), notching up over 46.5 million views to date.
Cyrus has promised to unveil a director’s cut if the video reaches views of 150 million.
