The American magazine Forbes published its annual list of the most powerful celebrities in the world, based on profits and popularity of each artist. This year, Miley took the seventeenth ranking position with gains of more than $36 million between June 2013 and June 2014! Congrats, Miley!

If I didn’t know how smart and talented Miley is, I might worry about her. But I’ve watched her grow up. So I don’t. She knows what she’s doing. She was very proud of the work she did as Hannah Montana, but people were gonna leave her there forever. And she was just smotherin’ and chokin’ in it. So she felt she had to do something completely drastic. And she did. She made her point, she made her mark, and more power to her. “Wrecking Ball” is a great song. The whole album is great. So I’m hoping that now she can relax and show people how talented she really is. ’Cause the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart. And she doesn’t have to be so drastic. But I will respect her choices. I did it my way, so why can’t she do it her way?

[News] Miley Cyrus earned $76.5 million in 2013

Miley Cyrus has literally twerked her way to the top.

Despite a public shunning from her risque MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke in August, scandalous stage antics have been credited with earning the pop starlet $76.5million in 2013, according to Parade’s annual salary survey, What People Earn.

Downloads of her single Wrecking Ball shot up 124 percent following the outlandish appearance, allowing the song to sell more than three million copies in the U.S. alone.

The former Disney pin-up's earnings do not include any of the revenue she is set to earn from her international Bangerz tour, which is her fourth concert series.

The tour only kicked in February in America and will move to Europe in May.

While Cyrus' banking is impressive, it's hardly the most money she has been able to make.

In 2011, at the age of 18, she was named #1 on Top 10 Richest Teens in Hollywood, with a net worth of $120 million.

Have you heard of Miley Cyrus? She used to be on this Disney show, she twerked at a big video awards show this year...she basically became the official Pop Culture President of 2013. Not only did she make headlines pretty much every week this year, and have a questionable relationship with a hammer in the controversial Wrecking Ball video (but seriously, the song is sooooo good!), she ALSO managed to use her platform (read: nipples) for good. This December, Cyrus tweeted a photo of herself outside in the snow, with her shirt lifted up and hearts blocking any real nudity to support the indie film Free the Nipple, a documentary questioning censorship of the U.S. media in regards to the naked female body and the lack of censorship in the media to violence. The Billboard.com Critics' Picks songs list is always difficult to cobble together -- with thousands of great songs released this year to consider, how can a group responsibly highlight the best of the best with one 20-song list? Although there were dozens more we would have liked to include, the following 20 songs are the tracks that had us head-banging, contemplating, tearing up and twerking. #1 "We Can't Stop"

Maybe the history books will remember the twerking and tongue-unfurling of the music video, but "We Can't Stop" was one of the bolder musical choices in recent memory, and that risk paid off tremendously. Here are the year’s catchiest, most addictive tunes from both pop’s biggest icons and the superstars of tomorrow.

#1 Miley Cyrus - "Bangerz" 

Face it, this was the Year of Miley. She was the world’s most controversial and omnipresent star, and dominated pop in a year with some pretty intense competition. Miley’s videos and awards-show antics are one thing, but she just wouldn’t be the phenomenon that she is if Bangerz was not a massive leap forward for her on a purely musical level. She never gets enough credit for being a fantastic and highly emotive singer — “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball” are so good that they’d definitely be hits if other people sang them instead, but Miley brought a touch of melancholy to both that made them far more emotionally resonant than your average bit of bubblegum. Bangerz is terrific from top to bottom, and easily the year’s most adventurous mainstream record, full of tunes that hop from genre to genre every few seconds without seeming the slightest bit incoherent. It’s an album that sounds very much like a harbinger of things to come, and if that’s true, 2014 is going to be pretty excellent year for pop.
