[Articles] Miley Cyrus Gets Parodied by Puppies! "We Can Bark" Includes Twerking Dogs

If the Internet has taught us anything, it is: Anything humans can do, animals can do better. And today, a bitch (literally) not only stole Miley Cyrus' look, but she jacked her music video too.
The premise, as with all viral videos, is simple enough: "Parody of Miley Cyrus' new music video and song, ‘We Can't Stop', but with DOGS!" If that's not enough to make you watch, then why are you on the Internet in the first place?

The brilliance of this parody (by Petodies and starring "Maltey Cyrus") is in the detail, starting with the lyrical makeover: "I'm a doggie, I can do what I want, I'm a puppy, I can do what I want / I can lick what I want, bark when I want, roll where I want."

And the visuals are spot on:

Right off the bat, Maltey ditches her collar vs. Miley cutting off her ankle bracelet:
Can't be tamed! (A sassy thing for a party girl to say, a literal nightmare for pet owners.)

This pug eating a sandwich of money vs. this dude eating a sandwich of money:
For Miley, "it was symbolic for money." For the pug, it's symbolic for dogs will eat anything.

The terrifying skull made out of french fries? It's still there, but now made of dog treats:

This puppy wearing a teddy-bear backpack vs. Miley's take on the teddy-bear backpack:

This pug licking a stuffed animal pug vs. Miley making out with a Miley-esque doll:

Dog kibble spelling out "BARK" vs. alphabet soup spelling out "TWERK":

And speaking of twerking...

Well. Anyway. As a refresher, here's the original, puppy-free version of "We Can't Stop":

[Fashion] The Best Dressed Artist of the Week: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has been rocking killer threads lately, so it’s no shock that the singer landed on our best dressed list this week. Miley stunned in blue while strutting to the Sirius XM Studios in New York City on June 27, to promote her new single “We Can’t Stop.”

The singer turned heads clad in an Emilio Pucci Spring 2013 look, complete with a long-sleeved blue crop top stitched with tiger-embroidery and a matching skirt with fastened buttons along her hips. She accessorized her street-chic look with red nail polish and a pair of white Celine heels. Simple and elegant!

[Fashion] Miley Cyrus Wears Blue, Is The Bomb

The past year has really been a journey of style self-discovery for Miley Cyrus, between lopping her long locks into a spiky platinum pixie cut and testing out a range of looks from Punk Pretty to Goth Glam to Harlequin Clown Being Eaten By Carnivorous Doilies. And like any star trying to pin down her own unique fashion aesthetic, Miley's definitely had a few hit-or-miss moments on the red carpet in 2013. But man, when she hits it? She hits it. Just look at her arriving at Sony Studios this week, in a lovely set of Emilio Pucci silk separates.
An embroidered cropped bomber jacket and figure-skimming skirt in sumptuous cobalt silk: these are the accouterments of a Style Superstar. This is a flattering and fun look—we love the unexpected details, like the cutout accents on the jacket's shoulders and the peeky pom-pom buttons that line the hips—but the greatest thing about this ensemble is how comfortably Miley wears it: with the quiet confidence of a girl who knows she belongs on the best-dressed list. Also, her hair looks great like this; it's such a nice break from her usual quiff.

[Articles] Miley Dishes on Liam Engagement, Family Drama on GMA

Continuing her weeklong media blitz to hype her new hit "We Can't Stop," Miley Cyrus jetted from L.A. to New York this morning, where she appeared on Good Morning America to perform the song as well as "Fall Down," her duet with Will.i.am.
This, after having just gotten over a case of laryngitis!
Sitting down with GMA anchor Amy Robach, the singer spilled on the status of her engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth and her family, which has gone through some ups and downs with her dad Billy Ray Cyrus' recent announcement that he was filing for divorce from her mom, Tish.
Noting the big rock on her finger, Robach wondered whether wedding bells were in Cyrus' future, especially since she was spotted without her ring in March, sparking rumors of a split.
But the 20-year-old crooner made it clear she and Liam are still very much together, replying bashfully, "I'm wearing a ring so…"
When asked about the behind-the-scenes drama involving her parents and the media's obsession with her personal life given that she's grown up in the public eye, Miley didn't address the matter head-on, but did praise those fans who've stuck by her.
"My whole thing is, haters are gonna hate, but haters are also going to click on your YouTube video just to watch it so I don't really care," she said. "You helped me break the record. Even if you were watching just to hate on me, and now I hold the record so I win."
Cyrus—who wore white short shorts and a black crop top—also revealed she was "really sick" with laryngitis and had to go on vocal rest.
"I didn't even know if I could make it," she said, adding that it's been "one of the most insane weeks of my life."
Talking about the success she's been having with "We Can't Stop," which has amassed 33 million hits and counting on YouTube since its release six days ago (it also broke a record on Vevo for the most views in a 24-hour period), Miley said the tune is what people need to hear right now.
"People need to hear something inspirational, and it's just about having a good time," she answered. "And I feel like everybody in my age group right now, we're just trying to have a good time."

[Articles] Miley Tweets, Then Deletes Bizarre Message With Pic to Her Father—Was She Hacked?

Is Miley Cyrus sending a message to her father?
That appeared to be the case last night when the singer seemingly posted a bizarre tweet directed to her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, who recently filed for divorce (for the second time) from his wife of 19 years, Tish.
"@billyraycyrus since you won't reply to my texts I'll give you an hour tell the truth or I'll tell it for you," Miley tweeted last night (the tweet has since been deleted, but the New York Daily News snagged a screengrab).
The strange statement included a snapshot of the pop star posing with a woman, who has now been identified as Dylis Croman. She costarred in the Broadway play Chicago with Billy Ray.
While it's unclear whether the social media star's Twitter was hacked, Miley attempted to clarify the cryptic tweet, suggesting she wasn't the one who blasted the message out to over 12 million followers.
"Wtf? My twitter was just actin all types of cray!" she wrote last night, after deleting the odd photo.
Billy Ray and Tish both filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
A source tells E! News the last few weeks have been "tough" for Miley's mother.
Although the former Disney star stayed mum on social media, she claimed she was "fine" after the news broke.
On Monday, the former Disney star's parents were spotted seemingly tension-free, enjoying a family lunch with their 13-year-old daughter, Noah.

[Articles] Miley performs "We Can't Stop" on NYC rooftop for GMA

Miley Cyrus can’t be stopped.
The newly punky pop princess performed on the outdoor stage of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘ in Los Angeles last night (June 25) and jetted, literally, across the country to NYC to perform on a rooftop for ‘Good Morning America’ this AM (June 26). She barely stopped for a breath, but like the consummate pro that she is, she nailed every note.
So it was a wake-up cup of Miley Cyrus for breakfast TV watchers. She wore a sparkly black tank with the words “I Heart NY” on the front, high-waisted white shorts and knee-high black boots, which was an inherently sultry ensemble that was magnified by the singer’s hotness.
She proceeded to get raunchy with her dancers, bumping and grinding against their nether regions.
Her dancing provided a better jolt than any dose of caffeine! Cyrus even slapped one of her dancers on the butt. She’s a bad, bad girl.
Cyrus also performed ‘Fall Down,’ as she did on ‘Kimmel!,’ and with an assist from will.i.am since it’s his tune. Cyrus twerked a little during their perf, too, since that’s become her signature move.
She was asked about her relationship with fiance Liam Hemsworth, to which she said, “”I’m wearing a ring, so. . .”
End. Of. Story.
When asked if ‘We Can’t Stop’ and the accompanying video are too over-the-top with their sexiness, Cyrus shot down such nonsense, chalking such commentary up to stodgy critics, saying, “No, then [the critics] haven’t partied in a while. They haven’t been to a good party in a minute. For me, I was excited when the song came out, but I really wanted the music video to come because it shows exactly where I was at that time in my life, when we started working on ‘We Can’t Stop.’ The video’s based off true events. Some funny things have gone down in my life, so it’s just been great, letting people see that — not just the glammed up beauty shot girl because that’s not who I am.”
Cyrus also noted, “Everyone grows up and you slowly become who you are.” Amen, sista!
She has become Miley the dirty girl and she is happy, so that’s all that matters. She can’t stop… And won’t.

[Fashion] How Many Outfits Can Miley Cyrus Wear In 24 Hours?

Miley Cyrus can't stop. Changing her clothes, that is. Just in case you haven't been keeping a vigilant eye on the platinum pixied pop star's sartorial exploits, she's worn (so far) five different outfits in the past 24 hours. FIVE. And that's only counting what she's actually stepped out of doors wearing. If Miley's anything like us when we get ready, we'd probably have to multiply by ten to account for the outfits that were tried but ultimately ended up on the dressing room floor. How does someone manage to wear this many looks in such a short amount of time? We'll unpack it for you.
Starting yesterday afternoon, Miley rolled up to the Jimmy Kimmel Live studios in a very Rihanna RIH-miniscent outfit: a black 2pac t-shirt over a barely visible pair of shorts and white heeled sandals. Once there, she changed and took to the stage in this black and white number—satin bomber jacket, cropped jersey top, high-waisted hotpants and OTK Louboutin boots. The jacket and crop top got a reprise as Miley kept it for her cross-country jet from L.A. to N.Y.C. *cue "Hopped on a plane at LAX"* This time, she wore them with baggy white pants and slider sandals. For her next performance on Good Morning America's Times Square rooftop venue, Miley kept the color palette and proportions but flipped it by wearing a black crop top (emblazoned with sequins and "I <3 NY" awwww) and FUZZY white hot pants. Finally, as she left GMA, Miley werked what we hope was her final look of the day: a paneled bra top with printed over-sized pants and those sliders again.
Which of Miley Cyrus' looks is your favorite?

[News] Miley reaches #5 on Billboard Hot 100 chart with 'We Can't Stop'

Two songs enter the Hot 100′s top 10 this week, led by Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop,” which blasts 27-5 as the top Streaming Gainer. (It just missed the region when it debuted at No. 11 two weeks ago.) The song’s video premiere (June 19) spurs a 28-1 vault for it on Streaming Songs (9.6 million, up 471%), while it concurrently rebounds 17-6 (161,000, up 74%) on Digital Songs. “Stop” debuted with 214,000 (No. 3 on Digital Songs) and fell to 93,000 last week.
“Stop” becomes Cyrus’ seventh Hot 100 top 10 (including one credited to “Hannah Montana”) and first since her highest-charting hit, “Party in the U.S.A.” spent three weeks at No. 2 in 2009. The new song is already her third-highest-charting title; “The Climb” rose to No. 4 earlier in 2009.

[News] Miley Cyrus Song ‘We Can’t Stop’ Breaks Vevo Record

The latest Miley Cyrus song “We Can’t Stop” recently broke records on Vevo.
The singer’s latest single has proved to be a hot commodity on the music video website. In fact, “We Can’t Stop” managed to generate 10.7 million views in the first 24 hours of release. The website made the announcement Monday on Twitter.
Much to the dismay of Justin Bieber fans across the planet, Miley Cyrus managed to beat the singer’s Vevo record. Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat,” a song which features former American Idol judge Nicki Minaj, held the previous record with 10.6 million views in a single day.
Since arriving on June 19, “We Can’t Stop” has surpassed 33.3 million views on YouTube. This doesn’t include the 14.3 million views the audio-only clip has amassed since hitting the internet three weeks ago.
In the video, Miley Cyrus can be found writhing around in tight-fitting clothes and engaging in a number of curious activities. According to producer Mike Will Made It, all of the stuff you see in the video embedded below was inspired by an epic party the singer once attended.
He explained to the folks at MTV News:
“When she heard this song, what made her connect to this song is it reminded her of a specific party, a specific party where she was at. She’s saying real stuff. It’s all real. So it’s not like her trying to force anything or anything like that. It’s like speaking from experience. It’s like a point-of-view record.”

[News] Ying Yang Twins Honor Miley Cyrus On New Track

The twerk kings have found their queen. The Ying Yang Twins are dedicating their cleverly titled new song “Miley Cyrus” to the pop star and her passion for droppin' it like it's hot. In addition to her popular twerkin' video Miley Cyrus also crashed a recent Juicy J show to shake it live.
The Atlanta rap duo were so impressed with Miley’s performance that they created a whole song dedicated to her. According to TMZ, they noticed Miley’s mention of their music on her Twitter page and decided to give back to the young singer.
Lyrics include: "Do the Miley Cyrus rock wit it/Wiggle wiggle jiggle jiggle shake that sh--/Do the Miley Cyrus b---- and get low."
The Ying Yang Twins are working on their upcoming mixtape, Ass in Session, so we guess it's fitting that they'd use it to the shine some light on the Disney-star-turned-party-girl’s new moves.

[News] Miley, Evan Rachel Wood Praise Disney Channel for Adding First Gay Characters

Miley Cyrus and Evan Rachel Wood sure are glad the Disney Channel is embracing equality!
Good Luck Charlie, a family-friendly show heading into its fourth and final season, will feature a character with two lesbian moms, TV Guide confirmed. Miley and Evan, both longtime advocates for gay rights and marriage equality, took to Twitter Sunday to express their support for the casting.
Evan first retweeted After Ellen’s link to the news, then added her own, “Hell yea.”
Then Miley responded, writing,.”is this true?!?!?! I commend Disney for making this step into the light of this generation. They control…so much of what kids think! Life isn’t bright sets & wardrobe & kids becoming superstars! This is INSPIRING”
Indeed, it is! A Disney Channel spokesperson told TV Guide in a statement: “This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors…Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness.”
Makes sense. Mickey Mouse loves and embraces everyone.

[News] Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears Tweet About Teaching Each Other Dance Moves

Now THAT'S a video we'd want to see! Pop princesses Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears showed each other some (digital) love via Twitter on Thursday, June 20, just one day after the Cyrus released the outrageous video for her new single "We Can't Stop" online.
"Loving your new video for #WeCantStop!" veteran performer Spears tweeted at her fellow former Disney star. "Maybe you can teach me how to twerk sometime LOL." The 31-year-old singer added a winky face to her message.
Cyrus, 20, couldn't resist responding to Spears with a similarly cheeky tweet.
"We could twerk it out in exchange for u teaching me da moves 2 'slave for you' (I've been practicing for the past 10 years," she replied.
Spears' steamy music video for dance track "I'm a Slave 4 U" raised eyebrows when it first premiered in 2001. In the now-iconic video, Spears donned a skin-tight, belly-baring top and cavorted with several other sweaty dancers in what looked to be an abandoned warehouse.
The singer further made headlines at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards when she performed the single onstage with several exotic animals, including a large white tiger and a giant Burmese python.
Cyrus' recent much-talked about video is similarly getting tongues wagging over the former child star's grown-up antics. In the surreal video, Cyrus at times grinds on top of a bed, shakes her butt like she's "at a strip club" and makes out with a life-size Barbie version of herself.
At another point in the video, Cyrus busts open a pinnate filled with hot dogs and wrestles a female friend.
"Everyone always judges and says what they want, but my fans … have really stood by me no matter what I've been through … and this is a song that says where I'm at my life right now," she told Ryan Seacrest in a June 3 radio interview. "My record is like a movie. It's a story of what I've been going through the past two years."

[News] Mileys' song "Last Goodbye" is about her dog Lila

Miley Cyrus isn’t just about partying on her new album, due out this fall.

While ‘We Can’t Stop’ celebrates all nighters, the new song ‘The Last Goodbye’ is about a much more serious topic, one that is close to her heart. And no, it does not pertain to fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

It’s actually about her beloved pooch Lila, who died in December of last year. A five-second snippet — and it’s generous to call it that, since it’s so short — of the song has landed online.

A source close to the singer and actress told Hollywood Life that the song is about Miley’s late dog. “It isn’t about Liam,” the insider said. “It’s actually something that came to her after her dog died and formed into this song. It started as a sad song but when it’s released you’ll see that it is actually uplifting.”

So Lila is immortalized in song. That’s love! It’s clear that Cyrus adores her pooches, posting tons of photos on Twitter. So it’s not shocking that she would celebrate her fur baby via song.

The song snippet doesn’t give us much to go on, but hey, have a listen anyway.

[News] We Can't Stop video director talks Miley

You know what, one of those portable speaker things would be awesome to have at the pool. I really need some Eos lip balm. And you know what would be fun? Let’s make a skull out of the leftover French fries in my car.
Miley Cyrus has taken over my brain, y’all.
The singer delivered her newest music video nearly two days ago, and I’m only a slightly embarrassed to admit that I’ve listened to the song at least once every time I’ve gotten into my car since.
Not only does the song refuse to let go of its hold on your brain, but its corresponding video has forced images of rebellion and product placement onto the psyche of anyone who’s watched it from start to finish.
Thankfully, Celebuzz had the opportunity to speak exclusively with Diane Martel, the director of said music video (who’s worked with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Ciara and Robin Thicke) — and she was kind enough to shed some light on what in the hell everyone was thinking when they included twerking dancing bears and amputated limbs.

CB!: How did the Miley Cyrus-Diane Martel collaboration come to fruition?
DM: Miley and I met through a mutual friend and collaborator, Pharrell Williams. He thought we would get along. We spoke about friend love and the joy of sleepless nights spent in revelry with a tight crew of friends.

CB!: What’s the message you wanted the video to convey?
DM: I think the indirect message is to be free. I enjoy the idea that an American pop icon can have surreal imagery in her video. Miley has a very open mind and, like the lovely kids born with the internet as their companion, she’s got a wealth of references to play with. We spoke at first about intimacy between friends, but I think the video is more about her intimacy with her audience. She’s very playful and silly in the video. She’s not self serious and boorish like so many singers.

CB!: Is there an underlying message Miley wanted to come through?
DM: She’s into living freely and being expressive. Its a great time for her and she’s enjoying her life. She is not a kid who is obsessed with her career in a way that precludes having normal friendships and normal fun.

CB!: Some have wondered if the video is a parody of Miley’s reported reputation as a party girl. What do you think?
DM: She’s no more of a party girl than any other American kid. If you can’t party when you are her age, when can you party?

CB!: Does that mean we’re saying goodbye to the Disney girl her fans have grown up with?
DM: Don’t we all grow up?

CB!: When it came to the interesting and artsy pops of video surprises — for example, the French fry skull, piñata, bed of bread, giant dancing bears, Miley’s doll-kissing moment, and tons of twerking — was all of that Miley’s idea?
DM: They are giant blunts [in the pinata]. Miley found a photo online of the French fry skull and sent it to me. It was a beautiful French fry skull. We were inspired by it and recreated it our own way. After we filmed we found out that it was created by a fine artist named Christopher Chiappa. The taxidermy was something Miley mentioned early on, and my fabulous art director, Georgia Walker, found in a smarmy prop shop. The lyric with the multiple taxidermy deer image is very touching. It almost makes us cry when we see that shot. The doll is a weird reference to a Helmet Newton photo. I worked on the idea with a friend, Aramis Isreal, who is a creative director and has worked on a lot of successful ads. We gathered a lot of blogged images and worked them into the shot list. The bread was my idea, bread/cash, etc. And I have a background in performance art, so a lot of the stuff came from the corners of my mind. The cut off fingers came about when we were on location scouting in the kitchen and I said, ‘oh someone has to cut off their fingers.’ I grew up on Devo and John Waters, so that might inform some of this stuff.

CB!: How involved was Miley in the conceptual planning?
DM: She let me go, she’s amazing to work for.

CB!: Tell us your favorite part of the shoot.
DM: I loved the whole shoot, I cant wait to work with her again. She is the sh*t.

CB!: To wrap it up, you must have a funniest (and fun) memory of shooting with Miley. What is it?
DM: I asked her to sing “Jolene” for me and she did when she was in the pool. She was so beautiful singing that song, so free and sweet. And her voice is quite beautiful, that was really touching. The whole thing was funny. The teddy bear twerker scene was pretty f*cking funny. She kept dancing really crazy style and turning toward the camera doing really funny ‘modeling.’ We were dying calling it her modeling. She’s a very, very funny smart girl. Look out world.

[News] Miley's 'We Can't Stop' video is a total gift

Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" video is finally upon us, and if I were to take a shot for every time she shakes her bum or sticks her tongue out in it, I'd be too drunk to write this article. Still, it's a nice bum, and hidden within the tripped out, party-themed video — complete with gold teeth, dancing bears, and a pinata full of ... well ... are those hot dogs? — are a few great messages we think grown-up Miley is trying to get across. ...

+ Miley Supports Same-Sex Relationships

Miley believes that love is love, whether it's between a man and woman, a woman and a woman, or a woman and her lookalike barbie doll. But in all seriousness, Miley is a longtime supporter of LGBT rights, and even has the marriage equality equal sign tatted on one of her fingers. We bet she "Can't Stop" waiting for the Supreme Court to make a couple of controversial rulings on same-sex marriage, which should be happening any day now!

+ THIS Is The Face Miley Makes At Bullies...

Miley recently addressed Tweeters who put her down saying, "Every day someone with a Swift or Gomez in [their] name wishes terrible things upon me (death is popular). Please Smilers don't ever think somehow you are supporting me by being hateful towards other artists. My fans make me proud by supporting my music & everything I do." According to MTV's anti-bullying campaign A Thin Line, 17% of young people have been verbally abused online or via text message. It hurts enough when people don't like our Instagram pics, so just imagine how bad mean Tweets and death threats feel! We can all take control over digital bullying by being kind to others on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites, and politely calling out those who aren't.

+ Miley Wants Everybody To Know How To Spell "Twerk"

Miley's all about education, and recently took part in CBS’ “Real Change: Artists for Education” T.V. special. The special honored celebs' favorite childhood teachers and raised money for Adopt A Classroom — an organization that helps teachers purchase the supplies they need to help their students succeed. The average teacher spends $1,000 out of pocket on school supplies every year, but Adopt A Classroom partners classrooms with donors so that instructors can keep their hard-earned money.

Whether or not you approve of Miley's mature new image, there's no denying the pop diva's (yes, she's officially graduated from pop star to diva) positive influence on the world through her philanthropy and open-mindedness.

[Video] Miley to perform on GMA

[News] Mileys' first live public performances in years set for June 25+26

Miley Cyrus wasn’t kidding when she said that her new music and new album are her priorities. The singer will make her first live performances in years next week… And she will do so in the span of 24 hours.
The singer will visit ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Tuesday, June 25, where she will sit down for a chat with the host before taking the outdoor stage to perform for thousands of Smilers. It will mark the first time that Cyrus performs her new single, ‘We Can’t Stop’ live.
So, yeah, it’s an event that you’ll want to stay up late for. Be sure and caffeinate in advance. You wouldn’t want to doze off and miss this.
As soon as Cyrus wraps that performance, she will hop on a jet and travel across the country to NYC, every moment of which will be captured by ‘Good Morning America.’ The footage will air the following morning, June 26. Cyrus will then perform at the GMA studios in Times Square.
Cyrus will wrap her whirlwind promo trip with a sit down on ‘LIVE With Kelly and Michael,’ where she will be interviewed by Michael Strahan and guest host Kristin Chenoweth.
Fans will have a dose of Miley before bedtime and then she’ll also serve ‘em a wake up cup! It doesn’t get any better than that. That’s three chances to see Cyrus on TV in less than 24 hours. She’ll be running on pure adrenaline, that’s for sure.
If anyone can pull that off, Miley Cyrus can!

[News] Miley Cyrus: "We Can't Stop" video celebrates female sexual liberation

Miley Cyrus, you may take heat for your adventurous new video that boldly celebrates the joys of being young, female and sexy. But ignore the dissers — “We Can’t Stop” is an anthem you deserve to be proud of!
Miley Cyrus, congratulations! You have successfully shed your teen queen Hannah Montana persona in one well thought-out and very sophisticated video that showcases your edgy new image.

Miley Cyrus — Transforming Yourself For An Adult Career Was Tricky

You have clearly given a great deal of thought to how you might transition successfully from your goody-goody country girl Hannah Montana version of Miley, to the adult Miley that you knew you had to become in order to have a long-term musical career.
Some people wondered what you were up to once Hannah Montana ended in Jan., 2011, besides going to Pilates class. It seemed like you were just taking an extended time off or time out.
Your first attempt to redefine yourself with the Can’t Be Tamed album, was an effort that aroused controversy without fully and positively expressing your yearnings.
It came off as a shocking expression of raunchy sexiness that felt like you were trying too hard, too soon, to make that transition.

Miley, You’ve Bravely Taken Risks & They’re Paying Off

It was smart that you clearly decided to pull back and give deeper thought to how you wanted to grow and express yourself as a musical artist, who is a very modern young woman.
You realized that you needed to change your sound, your look and the musical producers that you would work with in order to realize your vision.
Pharrell Williams, will.i.am and Dr. Luke became your new musical mentors. You called working with Pharrell, “magic” and he said he wanted to free you.
“I want her out of that cage,” he declared in an interview. Well, we’re seeing the brilliant results of your ‘uncaged’ efforts in the newly released “We Can’t Stop” video.
Listen Miley, you will no doubt be criticized by some for your unabashed raciness in “We Can’t Stop.” Yes, you wear a series of ultra tight, body revealing outfits and a swimsuit, you grind suggestively on a bed and in a bathtub, you twerk, you rough house in a sensual way with a girlfriend, put your hand on another girlfriend’s breast and playfully kiss a Barbie doll.

You Are Free To Explore Your Sexuality

But, I don’t see your provocative moves as merely a blatant grab to get attention, video views and make sales on iTunes.
No, it’s much much more than that. I see your message in “We Can’t Stop,” as a high-spirited celebration of the freedom that young women are blessed with today to fully explore and celebrate their sexuality.
“It’s our party we can love who we want, we can kiss who we want, we can see who we want,” you sing. “It’s our song we can sing if we want to, it’s my mouth I can say what I want to… Can’t you see it’s we who own the night,” you chant.
You are using the song to express your freedom to be in charge of your life as well as the liberated vitality of other young women in your generation.
You are comfortable with your own sexuality, just like millions of other young women today, and that’s an inspirational statement.
How many generations of young women in history have been able to have the same sexual freedom that men have had — very, very few. Furthermore, women in most places on earth, still are punished for their sexuality or repressed so that they feel guilty and dirty just for having natural sexual feelings. And that is so wrong.
I think it’s great that you are using your creativity as a musical artist to make this statement in a totally modern and unapologetic video.
“We Can’t Stop” is clearly the culmination of a well thought-out plan and image change.

Miley, You’re A Great Role Model

Miley, you’ve taken a lot of risks with this transformation and that took courage. But your new punky look perfectly expresses your cheeky self-confidence and sexiness. You are a woman in charge of your own destiny and you’ve bravely taken a big step and a big gamble with your new adult image.
But it’s all totally working. The time you put in over the last two years thinking about and then planning your giant leap was very well spent.
And while you may leave behind some Hannah Montana fans, you will connect with millions of other young women, who will find their own feelings expressed in your new message of joyful liberation.
You may look very different from the woman who Liam Hemsworth fell in love with and became engaged to, but he should be incredibly proud of you. And he should respect you as the very talented and courageous artist that you are.
Congratulations, Miley on becoming the voice of a new generation of women who are comfortable in their own skins and excited about the lives and opportunities they have ahead!
