[News] Miley Cyrus' New Single Selling Strong, Heading for Hot 100 Chart Debut

Miley Cyrus’ new single “We Can’t Stop” is off to a solid start, as industry sources forecast it may sell upwards of 180,000 to 200,000 downloads by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, June 9.
Its first-week sales, combined with airplay and streams (more on that in a minute), should give the song a very handsome debut on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart next week.
“We Can’t Stop” was released on June 3 and is the lead track from Cyrus’ forthcoming fourth studio album, which is due out later this year. The single and album are her first for RCA Records, after spending a career with Hollywood Records. (She also released numerous “Hannah Montana”-related albums with Hollywood’s sister label, Walt Disney Records.)
The new song is doing well at pop radio as well, having drawn 3.4 million in all-format audience, according to Nielsen BDS, since its arrival Monday. Mainstream pop station KIIS Los Angeles leads with 23 plays (1.4 million impressions) so far, followed by KTBT Tulsa, Okla. (19), WKFS Cincinnati (17) and KMVQ San Francisco (16).
After two days, the song already ranks at No. 37 on the building Pop Songs airplay chart, putting it in line for a debut when the chart is released on Monday (June 10).
As for the song’s first-week Billboard Hot 100 fortunes, opening-week sales of 180,000 – 200,000 downloads and its (less significant) airplay, along with any out-of-the-gate streaming activity, would likely point to a Hot 100 debut in the top 30, with a top 10 launch a possibility, depending largely on its sales momentum the rest of the week.
Highlights of next week’s Hot 100 will be revealed next Wednesday (12) on Billboard.com.
