[News] Miley: Madonna Wasn’t My First First Guest Choice For ‘Unplugged’

Miley Cyrus and Madonna turned it out for “MTV’s Unplugged,” but the 21-year-old initially wanted another music legend to share the “Unplugged” stage with her.
Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez spoke to Miley as she prepped for her upcoming “Bangerz” tour, where she revealed who first came to mind when planning the big surprise.
I just wanted to have a special guest that would be something that no one saw coming, especially with it being ‘Unplugged.’ I really wanted my [godmother] Dolly [Parton] to be there,” Miley revealed to Liz.
When the country legend couldn’t make the show, Miley looked to a different legendary performer.
[Dolly] had a show on the day of ‘Unplugged,’ so she wasn’t able to be there, so I was like, who can I bring besides Dolly that would be something like that? And I [thought] Madonna… I don’t think people would expect her to go on ‘Unplugged’ like that,” she continued.
But landing Madonna, who performed a mash-up of “We Can’t Stop” and “Don’t Tell Me” with Miley, wasn’t even a definite.
“I never knew if it was gonna be possible. We just kind of threw it out there and when I was working on my record I wanted to have her on a song… she was working on her album and then when it was time for ‘Unplugged,’” Miley explained.
The young singer was pleasantly surprised when Madonna was up for some playful onstage groping.
“I started grabbing on her and kind of messing around… and then she was like not afraid of that, obviously, because it’s Madonna!” she said. “It was nice to be on stage with someone that isn’t afraid of what I’m gonna do, that totally embraces what I’m doing. It was fun and it was awesome.
As for what fans can expect to see Miley wearing on her tour, she told Liz there will be “sequins and glitter” and “a lot of bedazzle happening.”
Miley’s “Bangerz” Tour will begin on February 14 in Vancouver, B.C. and wrap April 24 in Uniondale, NY, with additional dates to be announced.

[News] Miley Explains Why She's Working With 5 Designers For Her Tour Costumes

If you thought you'd seen all of Miley Cyrus Bangerz Tour costumes, think again.
"We have so many awesome designers working on everything. We have Jeremy Scott and The Blonds and Cavalli made some really cool pieces," the singer shared with E! News' own Ken Baker. "So many designers that have worked so hard… and Kenzo—amazing pieces!"
Yes, the pop star is wisely working with five designers to help combat what she describes as tour fatigue.
"It's funny because I have ADD, obviously, and I get really bored otherwise and even though you would think, you know, doing a show you wouldn't get bored but you get so used to doing it. So I've made so many extra costumes and extra set lists so I don't have to do the same thing everyday. Otherwise I'm going to hate touring."
Well, we wouldn't want that!

[News] Sky Ferreira: 'Miley Cyrus is not a bad feminist'

Pop star Sky Ferreira has rushed to defend controversial singer Miley Cyrus, insisting the former child actress is one of the nicest women in showbiz.

Ex-Hannah Montana star Cyrus dominated headlines last year (13) as she threw off her squeaky-clean image by performing a series of raunchy routines at high-profile events and going public with her love of marijuana.

Cyrus' antics have attracted criticism and accusations her butt-rubbing twerking dance moves are bad for women's image, but Ferreira is adamant her fellow singer is a fervent feminist and a keen supporter of her peers.

Ferreira, who has signed on as a support act on Cyrus' upcoming Bangerz world tour, tells rock magazine Q, "She's a smart person. She's really supportive of other girls her age, which I don't usually find with pop stars. That's why I find it funny when people call her a bad feminist. She's actually one of the most supportive artists I've met."

[News] Miley and Madonna Performing...Together!

Get ready for the pop music world to implode!
I can exclusively reveal that Miley Cyrus' surprise guest performer for her upcoming MTV Unplugged special is none other than Madonna!
Yes, Miley and Madonna singing together!
Sources tell me that the two were on a Hollywood soundstage earlier today rehearsing the collaboration.
No word on what exactly they'll be performing, but does it really matter? They could read the telephone book together and the world would watch and listen.
Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged tapes tomorrow and will air on the music network Wednesday night at 9 p.m.
"The performance will showcase a more intimate side of Cyrus and feature surprise guests for an unexpected re-invention of the songs that have defined her career, including several from her #1 critically acclaimed album, Bangerz," MTV said in a press release last week. "Miley and her fans have always had an intimate and direct connection through her music, personality and no-holds-barred attitude and the Unplugged stage will serve as the perfect platform for her to show viewers what inspires and ignites her music and her passions."
Since its debut in 1989, Unplugged has showcased Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Adele and Florence + The Machine.
Madonna most recently teamed up with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Grammys for the hip-hop duo's performance of  "Same Love." Cyrus kicks off her 38-city Bangerz tour on Feb. 14 in Vancouver, Canada.
Cyrus actually compared herself to Madge shortly after her infamous performance with Robin Thicke (and her foam finger) at MTV's Video Music Awards last month.
"Last night, I was talking about some Madonna performances, and I said, 'At some point, everything becomes irrelevant.' Like, no one even thinks about when she did 'Like a Virgin' at the VMAs," the former Disney darling told the New York Times. "That just becomes a standard, where it's just like, 'Oh, that's her thing.' So, I feel like now that I did the VMAs, that just kind of became a standard for me, and then anytime I do anything else, they're like, 'Miley kept it tame tonight.'"

[News] Roberto Cavalli talking about Miley

One of the designers of the costumes for Miley's BANGERZ tour, Roberto Cavalli, recently shared his thoughts on Miley in a post on his blog. Check out what he said below:

I admire Miley Cyrus… a great artist, a complete artist!
Miley has always been able to master her success, first as an actress and then as a singer… Miley breaks the mold, improvises, provokes and amazes as only a great artist can do…
It must be recognized that Miley has put to good use the artistic genes inherited from her father, a famous American country singer, but at the same time she has been able to create her own space.
I have always admired the style of Miley in wearing my clothes and I am therefore happy to give my contribution to her “Bangerz The World Tour” with special clothes that I designed just for her…
Miley has a perfect body and so I wanted to highlight her figure but at the same time create costumes that would allow maximum freedom of movement on stage…
Designing clothes for a performing artist is never a simple task. You have to be able to tune into the “mood ” of the artist, creating clothes that are able to interpret the theme of the show as a natural complement… with Miley it was simple because of the harmony which exists between her and my creations… we are both nonconformist and we both love to experiment… to surprise… to innovate…
I’m sure her new show will be a success, a success that Miley Cyrus fully deserves for the commitment and professionalism that shines through in every one of her performances…
Go Miley go!

[Interview] Miley Cyrus Talks About Her Tour And Packing A Bag Of Thongs With The Lady La Show

Miley Cyrus is prepping for her 2014 tour starting February 14th and she stopped by the Lady La show this morning to chat about  a huge 2013 with the release of her new album, her controversial award show performances, and her split from Fiance’ Liam Hemsworth- so how will she top 2013? How about start the new year off with a tour!  And while it isn’t Miley’s first time to Phoenix, she’s excited to bring the tour here.
Even though she sings about “Js on her feet” her Jordon collection she’s not as stocked up as she should be.  Miley revealed to Lady La that since she’s only 5’4” and she’s trying to look 5’9” so she wears heals a lot.  If she’s going to wear flats it’s got to be gothic boots that have a big sole on them.
Miley didn’t even realize everyone was flipping out about her twit pic of Chicken and Waffle’s (a Phoenix favorite by the way).  And because everyone flips out she doesn’t feel she can go to her messages without getting some sort of twitter abuse.
She also mentions how some celebrities seem to loose there social skills when they depend on a publicist and she’s never really allowed herself to hide behind her team.  If she doesn’t want to talk about something she relies on her social skills to get herself out of it.  Miley understand you can’t do that in life and that you need to learn to stand up for yourself.
In regards to having any regrets, Miley was taught by her mom that you can’t change what has happened and you need to learn from it.  She feels mistakes are some of her favorite things, usually they are fun and because that’s where you learn the most.
Winter isn’t as good for Miley’s wardrobe situation, that’s why she lives in LA.  She just is the only person she knows that has four suitcases full of thongs and bathing suits, which sounds like the perfect gear to wear in Phoenix when she comes February 27th!

Take a listen to the interview HERE.

[News] Miley Cyrus teams up with ‘Ren & Stimpy’ creator for tour art

Miley Cyrus may have shot to fame thanks to her starring role on Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana,” but now she is joining forces with a Nickelodeon icon for her upcoming tour.
Cyrus has tapped “The Ren & Stimpy Show” creator John Kricfalusi to provide artwork for her “Bangerz” tour, according to Comics Alliance.
Kricfalusi created the popular '90s cartoon about the two titular misfits that aired on Nickelodeon more than 15 years ago.
Comics Alliance reports that the odd couple met over dinner, during which the cartoonist created drawings that depicted the “Wrecking Ball” singer twerking with Ren and Stimpy.
“His art is driving a lot of the tour,” Cyrus said about the cartoonist’s work in an interview with Cartoon Brew. “Our whole tour is literally based on animals,” and will include “imaginative animals [Kricfalusi has] made on his own.”
Cyrus has already shown an affinity for sharing the stage with animals, having danced with giant teddy bears in her “We Can’t Stop” video and her 2013 MTV VMA performance.

[News] Emily Osment talking about Miley

In a recent interview with The TV page, Emily Osment (Miley's co-star from Hannah Montana), spoke about Miley. Check out what she said below:

You are probably best known from Hannah Montana.  You and Miley Cyrus used to be the best of buddies.  But I never see you photographed together anymore…
We all grow up.  We all do different things.
Are you still cool with each other?
We’ll always be cool.
What do you think of the way she has broken out of the Disney mold?
I love Miley to death and whenever someone asks me a question like that they usually want a negative response.  I can’t give you a negative response.  I love her to death.
Some people think she is brilliant that she has been able to get all this attention.
Why does everyone have to have an opinion?
Doesn’t she want us to have an opinion?  Isn’t that why she is doing what she does?
Nobody knows what she wants. She is doin’ her own thing. She is just in a new place. People are terrified of change. You move on. You do different things. She’ll figure it out.

[News] Miley will be on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno"

Other confirmed guests for the final month of Leno’s “Tonight Show” include President Barack Obama, Adam Sandler and Speaker John Boehner. Names like Neon Trees, A Great Big World and Darius Rucker will provide music.

[Interview] Miley Cyrus Talks About Being Gay Bar ‘Royalty’

Miley Cyrus admitted to 99.7 [NOW!]’s Fernando & Greg Thursday morning that she not only frequents gay bars but is also surprised by the impact her music and style has on pop & gay culture.
While chatting with Fernando and Greg, Miley did admit that some of the excitement of “Wrecking Ball” is starting to wane. “It used to be really exciting when ‘Wrecking Ball’ would come on.” Miley commented, “I’ve heard that 50,000 times but it doesn’t ever get old. That is kind of the thing I’m always stoked every time I hear any of my songs on the radio.”
Much like Fernando and Greg she still loves hearing “Party In The USA” and the reaction it gets. Fernando pointed out that at a recent party, the crowd went wild when the song came on.
“Let’s also mention it was a room full of gay men,” points out Greg.
“If the party starts to die, you put that song on at a gay party and you can keep it going for at least ten more minutes,” agreed Cyrus.
Miley also shared that this past Halloween she went out to a gay bar (Which every single lady does on any type of holiday) and was surprised by what she experienced because she really had not thought of the impact she had made on pop culture in 2013.
“So I went out and every single dude was me. And it was very funny.” Cyrus recalled, “And every gay guy was dressed as me and I felt like I came in and I was some sort of royalty. If you probably would have put me in line I don’t know if you could have picked me out of the bunch.”
According to Miley, her Halloween outfit (and presumably her VMA get-up that drew so much attention) did not even come close to the men at the club she was at.
“Some of the guys were actually looking beautiful – more beautiful than me – and wearing even if you can get any skankier clothes.” Mused the pop star, “Definitely a little skankier than me.”

[News] Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' Tour: 8 Things to Expect

After Miley Cyrus dominated 2013's headlines with shocking awards show moments on international stages -- twerking with teddy bears in Brooklyn, smoking a joint in Amsterdam and singing with space kittens in Los Angeles -- the possibilities are unlimited for what the singer will do on her upcoming Bangerz tour.
Yet the 21-year-old singer assures that those who attend will be entertained by what they see and hear. "I want people to walk away saying, 'OK she did some things that were crazy, but at the end of the day, it was really about her voice,'" she told reporters during a conference call.
Especially regarding the rising ticket prices that her younger fan base will pay, she reassured, "I just want to be something that is worth going to see... I already made the money that I need to make, this is about now putting the money into something that I care about."

Here are 8 things to expect from Cyrus' North American Bangerz tour, which kicks off Feb. 14 in Vancouver, BC:

1. Feast your eyes on a massive screen. "That's something I've actually had to fight for a little bit," she said, most inspired by the visuals on Madonna'stours. "It isn't the easiest thing to travel with in the space that we're using, and in some of the cities, my screen is actually too large... each city is going to be the biggest that it can be, and the best that their arena will allow us to have. Everything will always feel big... some of the stuff we're doing is so dope." And rather than wowing with onstage stunts, Cyrus will only enter and exit on a spectacular prop, focusing on singing entirely live in between.

2. Look out for more of her four-legged friends. "Our whole tour is literally based on animals!" she said, noting that much of the content is especially sketched by Ren &Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi, including "imaginative animals he's made on his own." She recalled that the two recently became close over dinner, when he sketched the starstruck singer for two hours.

3. Expect more than confetti to fall from the sky. "I'm giving lots of junk away," she teased, rather than offering a wide selection of tour merchandise. "This is my mom's worst nightmare, because I always hoard things from when I go to concerts... all the kids always want to keep the confetti, but I want to give them real things to collect."

4. Self-parodies will make appearances. "I don't have a hard time making fun of myself, so the whole thing is making the way people perceive me and doing that even more, be the character myself," she said of the 2013 throwbacks present in the set list. "That'swhat I think I've been representing, more than anything, in the past year. Being fun and carefree, and that's really what the show represents." She did confirm, "we're definitely bringing some kitties."

5. Less is still more for tour costumes. Each designer was given a different section to outfit Cyrus for, so look out for looks from Marc Jacobs, The Blonds, and Jeremy Scott as well as archive pieces from Bob Mackie. "Clothes for me, or lack thereof, say a lot," she joked of her traveling costume closet.

6. The concert has no time limit. Though the show, directed by Diane Martel, has a set list that spans 90-minutes, Cyrus made sure to preserve the acoustic section of her previous tours. This part of the concert will be comprised of acoustic renditions of her hits as well as covers, and "can go for as long as I want," depending on the city and the audience's energy. Still she noted that most of her set list will root from her most recent album, with her previous hits only barely sprinkled in.

7. Special guests are guaranteed. "I have friends that worked on my album in all of these cities, so anytime I'm in the same city, I'm definitely gonna drag everybody out," she said of Future, Mike Wills Made It and other Bangerz collaborators.

8. Get ready for girl power. Opening acts Sky Ferrera and Icona Pop were strategically chosen, says Cyrus. "I think it's hard for friends that are in their 20s to be friends with other girls, there's a lot of competition, and what I love about her is we've never felt that way," she said of Ferrera, adding that "Icona, they had a really good year, and I think they're a band that people can look out to be rising even more." She noted that she sees herself as a feminist and likes to fill her work environments with as many women as possible.

[News] Tish, Brandi and Noah Cyrus talking aobut Miley on E! News

Miley Cyrus' mom is pretty hip and laidback about the singer's outfit choices, but when both boobs were out and covered only by black pasties and a tiny mesh top? That was where Tish Cyrus drew the line!
"That's the only one I really didn't like," she told E! News of the racy ensemble Miley, 21, wore to perform at the iHeartMusic Festival this past September in Las Vegas.
"I was there for that," the "Adore You" singer's 26-year-old sister Brandi Cyrus said, "and there was some tension."
Mama Tish might've tried (and failed) to get Miley to cover up a bit, but that doesn't mean she's any less fun than her famous daughter!
For example, remember when the Queen of Twerk kissed Ryan Seacrest at midnight to ring in 2014? Well, according to Tish, that makeout was meant for mom! "I wasn't there, or I would've been the Ryan kiss," she joked. "I guarantee it. He just settled for Miley 'cause I wasn't there."
Clearly, Tish and Miley are cut from the same cloth! As for the other Cyrus sisters? Brandi admitted she was "pretty darn different" from Miley. "She's definitely louder and she has a very big personality," she said. "She likes to be the center of attention and entertain everyone and I'm much more low-key. Attention makes me nervous. "
Fair enough. As for Noah Cyrus, Miley's 14-year-old baby sis? According to Tish and Brandi, she's basically Miley 2.0! "She has lots of energy—bouncing off the walls," said Brandi. And just like Miley, Noah can sing!
When the youngest Cyrus suggested she might be "a little more quiet than Miley," Tish asked laughingly, "Are you joking?"
Brandi then explained that Noah "enjoy(s) normal things a little more than Miley…like riding horses." Miley, on the other hand, doesn't have the "attention span," said her sis. "She's like, 'Nope. Boring. No.'"
Well, luckily for Miley, the Cyrus fam doesn't seem to have too many boring moments! You can follow their adventures weekly in their Seriously Cyrus YouTube Channel.

[News] Marc Jacobs on how he chose Miley for his Spring Campaign

For the spring advertising campaign, Marc Jacobs chose a special friend of his and Robert Duffy’s — Miley Cyrus. David Sims photographed the most talked-about celebrity phenomenon in Los Angeles alongside models Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds on a beach set by Stefan Beckman.

That Jacobs would choose Cyrus is altogether not surprising. She has been a big supporter of his, having recently taken her clothes off for the “Protect the Skin You’re In” T-shirt campaign and presented the designer and his business partner with the top award at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars in October.

Robert became friends with Miley a few years ago, and I know her through him,” Jacobs told WWD. “I met her years ago at Robert’s birthday party in Savannah and we became friendly.”

The campaign is not a literal translation of the designer’s spring runway production, though. “We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark.”

Cyrus, he explained, fit the campaign’s vibe. “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything,” he said. “There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.”

[News] Miley Cyrus Shows Support for Gay Rights

Miley Cyrus has shown her support for gay rights by posing in a Marc Jacobs T-shirt.
The 'Wrecking Ball' singer posted a picture of herself on Twitter earlier today (January 7) with her tongue out, wearing a top featuring a cartoon of two women, a child, and the words: "I pay my taxes - I want my rights."
Cyrus simply captioned the picture: "Jacobs by Marc by Marc Jacobs."
The star has previously spoken out in favor of gay marriage, saying in 2012: "Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn't marry. And you couldn't have that special day the way your friends do - you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person's shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach."

[News] Miley is the 2014 Marc Jacobs campaign star!

Stop whatever you're doing and listen up! Or look up, because the new face of Marc Jacobs is Miley Cyrus!
Based on the Marc Jacobs spring '14 show modeling lineup that included Sky Ferreira, Georgia May Jagger, and Charlotte Free, we could have guessed that the brand's campaign would feature a big star, but we're more than thrilled to see that it's Miley Cyrus. Cyrus and Jacobs have been besties for a long time--she wore a fishnet dress by the designer to the Met Gala in 2013 and can currently be spotted nude on a Jacobs approved T-shirt supporting the NYU Skin Cancer Institute--so it was really only a matter of time before she starred in one of the designer's ads.
The backdrop for Cyrus' modeling turn is a dark, sandy beach, similar to the scene at Marc Jacobs spring '14. Cyrus is shown wearing a navy jacket with black embellishment, burgundy shorts, and black sneakers with white floral embroidery chilling with red-head model Natalie Westling and another blonde model in the background. But while the ad's ambiance may allude to the show vibes, instead of the blunt bowl cuts models rocked on the runway, Cyrus and the models have natural, semi-wet hair and luminous, glowing makeup. Even non-Cyrus fans will agree she looks pretty darn amazing.
Cyrus is the latest in a long list of super-cool It Girls who have posed for Jacobs, including indie darlings (Meg White, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Jennifer Jason Leigh) and big-name celebrities (Dakota Fanning, Victoria Beckham, and Sofia Coppola) alike. So does this mark (no pun intended) the final stage in Cyrus' transformation from tween star to full-blown fashion muse? We think yes!
P.S. The ads, shot by David Sims and styled by Katie Grand, are appearing in the February issues of magazines already on newsstands now, so you can tear these out and tape them to your walls ASAP.

Kellan Lutz, who is starring in the upcoming The Legend of Hercules, phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about taking on the iconic role, as well as to address those Miley Cyrus dating rumors.
And while he’s been on everyone’s radar with that bod, the actor’s also been seen hanging out and partying with the “Wrecking Ball” singer, causing everyone to wonder if the two are a couple.
“These rumors are hilarious,” says Kellan. “It just makes me laugh … I’ve been friends with Miley for like six years. She’s a great girl … we are friends [and] we run in the same circle.”
And although he loves hanging out with her and describes her as a “cool, secure woman,” the actor confirms: “Are we dating? No.”
In fact, he says, ”I’m happily single … I’m not [looking for a relationship] right now. I’m enjoying life and traveling quite a bit … there’s no real time to find the one.”

[Lists] Forbes 30 under 30 list: #5 Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus, 21
Don't be fooled: the former Disney idol's VMA twerk-fest wasn't an impromptu lapse in judgment, but part of a concerted plan to destroy the last vestiges of Hannah Montana and introduce Cyrus as a grown pop star. New album Bangerz sold 270,000 copies its opening week.
