[News] Articles about Miley at the Met Gala

From the instant we caught wind that Miley Cyrus might attend this year’s Met Gala, we knew whatever she would wear would be gorgeous, outrageous, and supremely appropriate to the event’s “Punk: Chaos to Couture” theme. Suffice it to say, girl did not disappoint. Miley teased her designer of choice for the night earlier today, tweeting at Marc Jacobs about her excitement for the celebration, but nothing could have prepared us for the jaw-dropping awesomeness that hit the red carpet.

Miss Cyrus slinked down the step-and-repeat, a VISION in a floor-length, long-sleeved column dress constructed head to toe in black fishnet. She described the look to Met Gala livestream co-host Hilary Rhoda as a kind of “punk rock [Morticia] Addams,” and we have to say that’s a pretty fair assessment—a blend of unbridled edge and sex appeal. Miley also told Rhoda that she loves The Sex Pistols, and now that she mentions it, we can see the inspiration coming through her hairstyle for the night, a modernized, feminized interpretation of Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious’ piecey, dome-spanning, splayed out spikes. What do you think of Miley Cyrus’ 2013 Met Gala look?

Miley Cyrus looked grungy and glamorous at the Costume Institute Gala in New York City May 6. Rocking a spiky blonde ‘do, the 20-year-old singer wore a full-length mesh gown by Marc Jacobs. “It’s so perfect for tonight,” Cyrus told Vogue.com. “I’m feeling so good and so punk!”

Cyrus likened her look to Morticia Addams from The Addams Family. “I wanna wear this every day,” she said. “It was amazing to not have to try things on a million things. . . This was the first [dress] and [it required] no alterations, which is rare. We put it on and were like, ‘We love nights like this where things are just perfect and you just know what’s right.’”

This year’s gala celebrates the opening of the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition. “I got it easy tonight because the dress is so punk in itself,” Cyrus said of her look. The So Undercover actress got ready for the event with her costar and BFF Kelly Osbourne, who also donned Marc Jacobs.

Miley Cyrus isn’t worried about showing a little skin. She also isn’t worried about showing up wearing something a bit skintight, either. The sassy young star was a buzzy appearance at tonight’s MET Gala, and she certainly met expectations. Wearing a super form-fitting Marc Jacobs fishnet head-to-toe dress, Miley pulled a Miley and didn’t leave much to imagination — but weirdly embodied the rebellious spirit of the evening.

Her bleached blond, Billy Idol-style hair was right at home with the theme, which was fittingly spiked. She explained that she really loved the Sex Pistols (which was better than a lot of stars flubbing their favorite punk musician or not really knowing artists of the era), and that a fishnet look was just right for the night — she didn’t even need an alteration, which is lucky. Sure, it’s dramatic and vampy…but it’s also kind of amazing in a Miley-Cyrus-heading-to-the-MET-Gala sorta way.
