[News] Miley set for Official UK Charts double #1!

Miley Cyrus is on course for not one, but two Number 1s this weekend! According to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data, her latest single Wrecking Ball, is leading the charge on the Official Singles Chart, while new album, Bangerz, is currently in pole position on the Official Albums Chart.
Should Miley maintain her lead though to Sunday morning’s cut off point, it will be the first Official Chart Double of 2013.
Despite starring in Disney’s Hannah Montana between 2006 and 2011, and releasing music as herself and under her on-screen alter ego, the 20-year-old singer and actress only scored her first chart topper on these shores little over two months ago with We Can’t Stop.
With a sales tally of nearly 62,000 copies, Wrecking Ball is almost certain to become Miley’s second Number 1 UK single, and is more than 18,000 copies ahead of today’s Official Singles Chart Update Number 2, Eminem’s Berzerk, at this midway stage. The controversial video for the track had amassed nearly 205 million views on YouTube as of this morning.
Meanwhile over on the Official Albums Chart Update, Bangerz is fending off tough competition from Chase & Status’ hotly anticipated third studio album, Brand New Machine (new in at Number 2) and reigning chart queens Haim’s Days Are Gone (down two places to Number 3). Miley’s previous highest charting album was 2010’s Can’t Be Tamed, which peaked at Number 8.
