Reggae-tinged track will appear on Snoop's April 23 album, Reincarnated.
Snoop Lion is pining about the past on his latest Reincarnated track, and he brought Miley Cyrus along for the ride. Their duet, off the rapper’s April 23 album, made it to the Internet on Wednesday (April 3).
On “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks”, Snoop combines his newfound Rasta style with Cyrus’ pop sound but the actress shows she can get in on the reggae vibe of the jam, too, especially on lines like “fill up all those ashtrays.”

MTV Buzzworthy Blog - New Song: Snoop Lion Featuring Miley Cyrus, 'Ashtrays And Heartbreaks'

Years from now, pop/hip-hop historians will reference 2013 as the year Miley Cyrus befriended EVERY working rapper in the game. She’s already photobombed Juicy J, French Montana, and Wiz Khalifa, worked with Pharrell and Tyler, The Creator in the studio, and danced onscreen with Lil Kim and Tiffany Foxx. Now, the pop megastar is finally appearing on a bona fide hip-hop track, and there’s no better place to start than with the D-O-G-G (or rather, L-I-O-N) — aka the recently enlightened Snoop Lion. On “Ashtrays And Heartbreaks,” a breezy, summer-ready track from Snoop’s forthcoming album Reincarnated, we finally get to hear Miley break off a little something on her rap ISH.
On the reggae-tinged collabo produced by Major Lazer and Ariel Rechtshaid, Snoop and Miley trade verses about letting go and living in the moment. “Tonight there’s gonna be a whole lotta smoke in the air/ Blow it hard for the ones who ain’t here,” Snoop smoothly dedicates while Miley emotionally unloads, “Now my buzz is gone and I need to re-up on reality/ Can’t let them see me weak/ I need to pause on it/ Is there any possibility that everyone feels like me?”
OK, we have to gush: We are SO glad to hear Snoop and Miley collabo, and we hope it opens a WORLD of possibilities for her upcoming album. We know there are still some die-hard “Party In The U.S.A.” fans out there, but heck, if Drake can overcome “Degrassi” to become the hottest rapper in the game, Miley can become trill too.

Muu Muse - Miley Cyrus lights up with Snoop Dogg on “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks”

The fruits of Mrs. Miley Cyrus Hemsworth‘s labors over the past two years are finally making their way to our ears —and going up in flames.
For his upcoming album Reincarnated, Snoop Dogg—now reborn as Snoop Lion—recruited the smiley pop princess for a song called “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks,” co-produced by Major Lazer (that’s Diplo‘s side project) and Ariel Rechtshaid (Sky Ferreira, Solange, Charli XCX, et al.)
An unusual pairing? Certainly. But together, the two make sweet, sweet sounds.
Gliding across a summery, slightly melancholy reggae beat (a la Rihanna—or even Paris Hilton‘s iconic “Stars Are Blind”), Snoop and Milerz light it up, breathe it out and air their troubles in between the haze for an anthem dedicated to life’s many injustices. “Tonight, there’s going to be a whole lot of smoke in the air/Blow it on for the ones who ain’t here,” Snoop softly declares.
Miley joins in soon thereafter, adding her raspy vocals to the mix: “Is there any possibility that everybody feels like me?” Miley cries out. “Fill up all those ashtrays!” It goes without saying that “Ashtrays” is a far more grown-up production from the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana—and the payoff couldn’t be better. She sounds incredible, and the sound suits her perfectly. Another sign that her upcoming LP is going to be one of 2013′s best? You bet.
Not only is the song catchy, it cuts deep too: Life gets pretty rough, so light it up and pour a glass—I’ll drink to that.

Cosmopolitan - Miley Cyrus and Snoop Lion debut new song Ashtrays and Heartbreaks

Miley Cyrus is BACK on the music scene with a brand-new song – and we have it pegged as a total summer fave.
Ashtrays and Heartbreaks sees Miley in a duet with Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg), the pair acting out the roles of a (mismatched) couple reminiscing about lost love and what they had before.
And, with a soft reggae beat and fun island-friendly feel, this is definitely the sort of song we see staying on the radios for a long time.
“So raise a glass to the memories and set ‘em free and fill up all those ashtrays.”
Toi be honest, we were completely surprised when Miley launches into those edgy hip-hop laced powerhouse vocals from Miley – it’s a completely new sound for the Disney pop starlet and we’re kinda in love with it.
The song is off of Snoop’s upcoming album, Reincarnated, and it’s the second single following “No Guns Allowed” – but, thanks to Miley’s vocals, we have a feeling this one is going to be the big hit single from the Major Lazer produced album.
