Focus Features unveiled on Tuesday the red band trailer for its raunchy comedy “That Awkward Moment,” starring Zac Efron. The blogosphere chuckled and drooled over Efron as he exposed his bum on a toilet and engaging in other sexual hijinks.
But there was no outrage on par to what Miley Cyrus experienced after her equally raunchy MTV Video Music Awards performance in August, where she waved a foam finger provocatively. “Morning Joe’s” Mika Brzezinksi and “The View’s” Jenny McCarthy both slut-shamed Cyrus, but Efron, who wears a limp prosthetic penis in the trailer, largely got a pass in the media.
Nobody even uttered as much as, “What will the children think?” The NY Daily News cooed, ”Oh, hello Zac Efron.”
Efron and Cyrus both got their starts in the Disney universe back in 2006 — Efron in “High School Musical” and Cyrus on “Hannah Montana” — but their fans aren’t kids anymore. There’s still a double standard when it comes to sexuality in Hollywood: men can get away with whatever they want, and women are called whores when they try to do the same.
Cyrus (who is 20) and Efron (25) are both young adults, who are still experimenting with their brands. Let’s keep that in mind the next time Cyrus does something outrageous with a foam finger.
[News] Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard 200!
As forecast last week, Miley Cyrus debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her new release "Bangerz," selling 270,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.Counting her soundtrack albums as the Disney character Hannah Montana, this is her fifth No. 1 album. She topped the list with the Disney Channel TV series' first soundtrack in 2006, as well as its big-screen film adaptation soundtrack in 2009. Cyrus herself notched No. 1s with the half-soundtrack/half-studio album "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" set in 2007, and then her own "Breakout" studio effort in 2008. Cyrus' last studio album, 2010's "Can't Be Tamed," debuted and peaked at No. 3 from a 102,000 start.
"Bangerz" is one of seven debuts in the top 10 this week.
Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" slips 3-4 with 128,000 and a decline of 40%. Its sales erosion is owed to iTunes' consumers who opted to complete their "Bangerz" album by upgrading their earlier "Wrecking Ball" sale to an album purchase. Effectively, customers who completed their album were returning a song, thus amplifying the sales decline for "Ball" this week.

The foam-finger wearing, booty-shaking pop singer became what looks like an alien during the music video for rapper Future's single "Real and True," one of his tracks which features Miley.
The series of exclusive pictures from the video, releasing this Friday, show Cyrus covered in metallic body paint, while Future pretty much looks like himself—besides wearing an astronaut's uniform at one point (which makes sense since his nickname is Astronaut Kid).
Their work together on the track off his sophomore LP Honest (releasing in December) was just one of many collaborations.
"I worked with Miley Cyrus when we were working on her project, for her album," Future told Sway Colloway during an appearance on RapFix Live. "I was doing some records in Vegas and Mr. Hudson sent a hook back he did on a Mike Will track. He played it for Miley and she wanted to be a part of it, so I'm putting the record on my album also."
Speaking of working on Bangerz, Future went into detail during an interview with MTV on his studio time with Miley.
"We got a lot of great records, and it all came from conversation and having a nice vibe," the Atlanta rapper said. "Whenever she allowed me in her personal life through conversation, I tried to take that vibe and go to the booth. I told her, 'You've gotta embrace your fears. If something's bothering you, you've gotta run toward it. If you're crying about it, you need to cry till you can't cry anymore. If you try to hold it back, then it's gonna eat you up. But if you embrace [it], the music moves.
"He continued, "The songs I did with her [are] very touching. Certain days it's about money, partying and vibing and some days [it's about needing] somebody to stand by you and hold you down. Certain days you wanna know if the love that you're with is really true, and one song we got is basically around all those subject matters."
Future is featured on Miley's track "My Darlin'."
