[Lists] Top 50 music videos of the millennium: #20 Wrecking Ball
MuchMusic made a list of the 50 best videos of the millennium and guess who made the list?! Miley's "Wrecking Ball" of course! Check out what the site said about the music video below and view the full list HERE.
Miley drops the twerking and her clothes as she bares her.....ahem...soul to the world in this video directed by the fashion world's favourite creepy guy - Terry Richardson. The combo worked as Wrecking Ball was Vevo's most viewed vid of the year wit 371 million hits. Incidentally, number two was Miley's We Can't Stop.

[News] Adore You on top of Billboard Streaming Songs
Outside the Hot 100's top tier, Miley Cyrus soars with her new single, "Adore You," which re-enters at No. 22. (It first spent two sales-fueled weeks on the chart, at Nos. 42 and 79 in October/November, coinciding with the first two chart weeks of Billboard 200-topping parent album "Bangerz.") With its sensual video having premiered on YouTube Dec. 26 (a day after it leaked online), "Adore" rockets onto Streaming Songs at No. 1 with 7 million U.S. streams, 82% of which stem from Vevo on YouTube views. Since the chart launched the week of Jan. 26, 2013, just three other songs have started at the top: Baauer's "Harlem Shake," PSY's "Gentleman" and Lady Gaga's "Dope."
Cyrus also ranks at No. 2 on Streaming Songs with "Wrecking Ball" (6.9 million, up 8%), becoming the second act to monopolize the chart's top two. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis doubled up at Nos. 1 and 2 the weeks of May 11 and 18 with "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us," respectively. She's additionally the first artist to collect three No. 1s on Streaming Songs (passing PSY, with two). "We Can't Stop" and "Ball" share the record for the longest stays atop the chart: 11 weeks each. On the Hot 100, "Ball" drops (fittingly, this New Year's week) 9-12.

Last night (31st Dec) Miley performed at Ryan Seacrest's NYE concert at Times Square - Rockin Eve! She singed #GetItRight and Wrecking Ball just minutes before the new year! The site of Rolling Stone magazine recently released a list of the 5 most tweeted about songs on Twitter in 2013. Our Miley was featured in the list twice with Wrecking Ball at #1 and We Can't Stop at #5! Check out the full list above.
[Interview] Miley explains the origin of the singing cat at the AMAs: 'I found it on Tumblr'
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly runs down some of the best performances from all across the music world in 2013. One of the entries on that list was Miley Cyrus’ performance of “Wrecking Ball” at November’s American Music Awards, which found Cyrus singing the power ballad in front of a giant projection of a cat who “sang” along and wept diamonds during the song’s climax.
Like many of the elements of Cyrus’ visual approach, the genesis of that performance began on the Internet. “I found that cat on Tumblr,” Cyrus told EW. “I’m obsessed with cats but I have four dogs so I can’t have a cat. But I am obsessed with cats. So I found this cat and sent it to ['We Can't Stop' video director] Diane Martel, and we turned it into this little GIF. For some reason, when I saw it, I felt like it would be the saddest thing to see this cat sing ‘Wrecking Ball’ with me. I had to track down the dude who made [the original Tumblr post] who lives in Japan. I think a lot of kids knew what that cat was. They had seen that cat online before because it got passed around on Twitter.”
Once they had the basic idea down, it was time to expand. “I tried to explain it to people for like a month. I had it on my phone, and we just kept trying to make it better and sadder,” Cyrus explained. “That’s why we added the tears and had it cried diamonds. The reason why it cried diamonds is because I call Diane Martel ‘Diamond.’”
As for her matching get-up, that was a happy accident. “I found that material—it was a dress, and I cut it up into that bra and a weird underwear thing,” Cyrus explained. “I couldn’t believe how well the cat matched up.”
Cyrus shares EW’s appreciation for that particular performance. “That was my favorite performance of the year,” Cyrus said. “I saved it for the AMAs because they were the same day as my birthday, and I wanted to do my favorite performance on my birthday.”
