[News] Pharrell Defends Miley Cyrus' Fashion Style and Music

Miley Cyrus is getting major support from her producer pal Pharrell Williams.
The "Get Lucky" crooner, who worked with Cyrus on her new album Bangerz, is opening up to Complex magazine and defending Cyrus' headline-making transition from teen star to all-grown-up music sensation.
"Yeah, it's tough to be that age, and to have to make all those decisions yourself," Pharrell tells the mag. "And it's the people you're surrounded by, too. I'm not worried about Miley. I've seen her soul in action. I know her voice, her voice is crazy. I keep saying it to everybody: You gotta remember, she's [21] years old and enjoying her life. She's enjoying her freedom."
He continued, "When you see her, when you read her words and you listen to her musical choices, and you look at what she's wearing—I'm not talking about when she goes on stage, I'm talking about her everyday dressing—she shuts it the f--k down. Not too many people really understand the Chanel vocabulary like her. Like, she's a problem."
Pharrell's kind words didn't stop there.
"Now, when she goes on stage, she's expressing something else," he went on. "You know, when she's making her music she's expressing something else. She's expressing where she is in her life and her freedom. So while everybody else is being judgmental, they're not taking into account that she's been basically locked behind a camera all her life. And by the way, for good reason. All them years with Disney, and all them years with Billy Ray Cyrus as her dad and Dolly Parton as her godmother, did some good on that voice. But, you know, people are just watching her evolution of a young mind, but an old soul."

[News] Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' Swings Back To No. 1 On Hot 100

Thanks to the viral explosion of a new parody video of the song, Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" returns to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The song halts the command of Lorde's "Royals" after nine weeks.

With top Streaming Gainer honors, "Ball" (3-1) reclaims the Hot 100's top rung for a third total week after "Royals" had ruled for nine frames. "Ball" first topped the chart in the two weeks (Sept. 28, Oct. 5), following the premiere of its official video, prior to Lorde's coronation. The song storms back to the top of the Streaming Songs chart for a ninth week at No. 1 (14-1) with a 137% increase to 18.6 million U.S. streams last week, according to Nielsen BDS.

More chart honors for Cyrus: The nine-week gap between "Ball" topping the Hot 100 marks the longest in the Hot 100's 55-year history for a song in one chart run.

[News] Miley Cyrus #1 most searched term on Yahoo in 2013!

Miley Cyrus was the most-searched term on Yahoo in 2013, the first time a human has taken the top spot since Michael Jackson in 2009.

Kim Kardashian and Kate Upton took the second and third spots among Yahoo’s overall top searches, the company said Tuesday, while Barack Obama was Yahoo’s most-searched political figure, followed by Nelson Mandela. Other political figures to make the top 10 include Hillary Clinton, whose potential as a presidential candidate has stirred interest in recent months, and tea party lightning rod Ted Cruz, a conservative leader during the government shutdown earlier this year.

Yahoo’s top “obsession” in 2013, which combines the volume of searches with how fast the term rose in popularity, was the backwoods TV blockbuster Duck Dynasty. The top “Why” question of the year was “Why only 6 jurors in Zimmerman trial,” though at least one old classic held its own, coming in at No. 4: “Why is the sky blue?”

[Gallery Updates] Riding a trike in LA

[Lists] Rolling Stone's 50 Best Albums of 2013: #27 - Bangerz

27. Miley Cyrus, 'Bangerz'

Amid all the foam-finger hub-bub, Miley made an excellent pop record. Bangerz is full of country-flavored slow jams and dirty beats like "Do My Thang" and the ace Future duet "My Darlin'." She drops top-shelf electro hooks and navigates coming-of-age conundrums, bringing depth and vulnerability to one hell of a party.

Miley Cyrus's 'Bangerz' is the only LP by a major pop female to make Rolling Stone's list of The 50 Best Albums of 2013!
